The Doomsday Clock is a symbolic representation of how close humanity is to global catastrophe, particularly from nuclear war or climate change. It was created by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists in 1947 and is updated annually. The clock's hands are set close to midnight, with midnight representing doomsday, and the time is adjusted based on the perceived level of threat to the world. The closer the clock is to midnight, the closer the world is to a potential disaster. **
